Wickenburg, Arizona is one of the state’s top tourist destination. If you are looking for an authentic western experience, Wickenburg should be your destination. The town is home to several traditional dude ranches. Hotels in Wickenburg, AZ can serve as a guide to choosing your housing during your Old West vacation.
I submitted my article for the Journal of Attachment Parenting International this evening. I’m excited about the story and I can’t wait for it to be published.

I spent a few days researching my latest article and just published it this afternoon. Autism Summer Camps features information on Kamp A-Kom-Plish, YouthCare, and Surfers Healing. These three camps serve the autism community and provide a great summer camp (both sleep away and day camp) experience for children and young adults on the spectrum.
In an update on my Journal of Attachment Parenting International article, I have completed my rough draft. I hope to have it finalized in the next day or two. Usually when I write, I go through and do a rough draft. Let it sit for a back, read it again, make some changes, and then let it sit again. Of course this only works if I have time.

I am currently in the process of writing another article for a print publication. This time, my article will be published in the Journal of Attachment Parenting International (API). I have been involved with API since 2004 but this will be the first time I’ve contributed to the Journal. My deadline is 1/31 and I’ll be looking at an article length of approximately 1,500 words. Once it is published I’ll be sure to post an excerpt here.
I also published one more article yesterday at Suite 101 - The Autism Research Institute. The article details the research done by the ARI and its founder, Dr. Bernard Rimland. I wasn’t able to get any new articles published today as my day was spent writing about King Asoka and his contribution to Buddhism through the building of stupas throughout India.

I’ve published two more articles in my series about schools dedicated to educating children with autism spectrum disorders.
New Jersey/New York Autism Schools- This article briefly describes the Gersh Academy and the Learning Spring Academy (Learning Spring Elementary School) in New York and The Y.A.L.E. Schools located throughout southern New Jersey.
Private Autism Schools in CT & MA - Featuring information on the Corwin-Russell School in Massachusetts and the Glenholme School (Devereux Glenholme) and Franklin Academy located in Connecticut.
I plan on adding more articles to this series in the next few weeks.

I have started a new series of articles that spotlights schools that are dedicated to educating students with an autism spectrum disorder or other similar conditions. My first article in the series highlights schools located in California – CA Asperger’s Syndrome Schools: Orion Academy, Passageway School and The Springstone School.
These three educational institutions provide a quality education for children with Asperger’s Syndrome as well as other autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, NVLD, etc. I have two more articles in the series in the works and I hope to have them published later today.

My latest article at Suite 101 is entitled Defeat Autism Now’s DAN Protocol: Dietary Interventions and Biomedical Treatments. DAN is a pretty controversial topic in some communities but in others they are considered the next best thing to sliced bread. The organization is heavily googled so I figured it would make a nice addition to the Autism/Asperger’s section at Suite.
I’ve been keeping an eye on my traffic and today my article Super Bowl XLII: The NFL Experience has received twice as much traffic than it did yesterday. We still have eight hours left in the day so it will be interesting to see where it ends up. Now that the contestants for the Super Bowl have been set people are evidently working on getting here for the big game.

This past weekend I registered and created MHOWriting.com. I have brought over all of the posts from my old blogger.com blog and backdated them. In the past few days I’ve also published a few new articles at Suite 101.
Uncommon Types of Autism - This article features information on Rett’s Disorder and Childhood Disintegrative Disorder. These two disorders fall under the umbrella of pervasive developmental disorders.
Raising Autism Awareness - This is a topic that is near and dear to my heart. With diagnostic rates at 1 in 150 children in the United States it is amazing how many people don’t know a thing about autism or everything that they know is incorrect. My goal is to increase autism awareness
Valentine’s Day for Singles - I’m not single but I was for many, many years. I didn’t enjoy the day and had I thought about it I would have taken the day to focus on ME! Here are some great Valentine’s ideas for those that are single on this typical couples-only holiday.
My writing has slowed down because my schooling is taking up a big chunk of my time. In addition I was also commissioned to write a luxury travel article for a print publication. Islander Magazine is a monthly magazine with a distribution of 240,000 copies to various communities on Long Island in New York. I highlighted two destination spas located in Sedona, Arizona. I figured the readers snowed in in New York might be interested in a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway in beautiful Sedona. Once I receive a copy of the magazine I’ll post a portion of the article up here at MHOWriting.com.

I only have one article to update my blog with today but it attempts to answer one of the most commonly asked questions about autism - what causes autism? You’ll have to read the article to find out what I have to say about the topic.
Causes of Autism
I have some good news to report. I applied to be promoted to a Feature Writer at Suite 101 and heard back yesterday that I have been approved. I am now the feature writer for the Suite 101 Autism/Asperger’s Syndrome topic.
In addition to my promotion, two of my writing momma buddies were also promoted. Congratulations to JennyBeans for her promotion to feature writer for the Suite 101 Kids Products topic and to Lucy John who is the new feature writer for the Suite 101 Parenting Methods section.

Insomnia can be a curse but it can also be great for brainstorming. As I sit in bed, wishing I were asleep, I will often get ideas for new articles. I keep my iPhone on my nightstand so I’ll quickly jot down an electronic note with the idea. Both of today’s Suite 101 articles were a direct result of a night of insomnia.
Autism Conferences in 2008 highlights four distinctly different autism conferences that are scheduled this year. I was going to title the article “2008 Autism Conferences” but then figured that could be misread as me listing 2008 different autism conferences. *wink*
The second article I wrote today highlights Autism Education Models. Having two children on the autism spectrum I am quite familiar with the typical models of education used for children with autism spectrum disorders.
Tomorrow I hope to branch out and finish up the two Valentine’s Day articles I have in the works.

I took Thursday off. Well, technically I didn’t take it off as I had a ton of homework to do, but I didn’t write anything that day. Yesterday I published my tenth article in the Suite 101 Autism/Asperger’s Syndrome section. I highlighted Autism Organizations in the US and focused on the Autism Society of America, Autism Speaks, the Autism Research Institute, and Talk About Curing Autism.
I am actually finding that it is a bit more difficult to write about autism and Asperger’s Syndrome than I originally thought. I am trying to remain neutral on the topic and present both sides of the issue. Yes, believe it or not, there is a divide in the autism community. On one hand you have individuals, mostly parents but some autistic adults, who believe that autism needs to be cured. On the other hand you have another group of individuals, mostly autistic adults but some parents as well, that believe that not only does autism not need to be cured, it simply isn’t curable. I won’t divulge which school of thought I buy in to and I hope that I am neutral and transparent in my presentation.
